SAN FRANCISCO — A federal court in California preliminarily approved a class action settlement in a suit in which the plaintiff claimed Volkswagen sold certain Audi models that had defective direct-shift gearbox transmissions. Volkswagen will reimburse class members for one repair of a “diagnosed condition of shuddering, juddering, rough shifting, or improperly entering 'limp mode.'”
