EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A contractor used a toxic outdoor floor sealer on an indoor floor and the hazardous fumes affected other businesses, three people say in Madison County Circuit Court. In separate complaints, the plaintiffs say that Titan Contractors used the sealant at the Imperial Manufacturing Group on April 24, 2007.
The plaintiffs, who work at the adjacent American Water Resources Co., they were exposed to fumes from TIAH, an outdoor sealant. TIAH fumes can cause headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination, fatigue, loss of memory, loss of intellectual ability, brain damage, lung damage, respiratory irritation, gastrointestinal irritation and skin irritation, according to the complaints.
The plaintiffs - Merri Bogard, Valerie Furlow and Tallauah Todd - each demand $150,000 in damages. They are represented by Dexter Evans of Aurora, Ill.
Clark Properties, Titan and the Alton Business Center Park are named as defendants in all three suits. The plaintiffs say Clark hired Titan.
