ST. LOUIS (CN) – The co-founder of Savvis Communications was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison for trying to extort $100,000 from his brother-in-law.
Andrew Gladney, 45, pleaded guilty in May to making violent threats to his brother-in-law by email and telephone.
U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber sentenced him to 33 months in prison.
Under federal sentencing guidelines, Gladney faced a sentence of between 33 and 41 months. His attorneys sought a 12- to 18-month sentence, citing Gladney’s efforts to break his addiction to cocaine.
