EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A mother was charged with reckless conduct after a Christmas Eve wrestling match with her mother-in-law over who owned the Christmas tree seriously injured her toddler, state prosecutors said.
Sandra Price, 28, was charged with a misdemeanor. Madison County prosecutors say she got into a fight with her mother-in-law after the two argued over who owned the 4-foot tree.
The fight allegedly happened at a motel they were staying at after a fire destroyed their rental home on Dec. 9.
Price's 21-month-old daughter was injured in the fight and had to undergo surgery on her left eye. It is unclear whether she will regain vision in the eye.
