EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) - Madison County Circuit Clerk Matt Melucci will retire after his term ends next year, the longtime public servant said.
Melucci, 67, did not give a reason for retiring in his emailed statement.
Melucci, a Democrat, is serving his fifth elected term as circuit clerk. He will have spent 20 years in the position when he steps down.
Before being elected circuit clerk in 1992, he was Washington-based chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello.
