OLATHE, Kan. (CN) – Adam Purinton, the suspect accused of killing an Indian national and injuring two others at a Kansas bar, pleaded not guilty in a brief court appearance Thursday.
Purinton, 52, faces one charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Srinivas Kuchibhotla and two charges of attempting to murder Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot.
Kuchibhotla and Madasani, both Garmin employees, were in the bar this past February to watch college basketball when they were allegedly harassed by Purinton. After bar employees escorted Purinton off the premises he returned a short time later with a gun, investigators say.
Purinton waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is due back in court May 8, 2018. He is currently held in the Johnson County jail on a $2 million bond.
