CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (CN) - A judge has postponed approval of a $1.5 million settlement in the death of a woman in former Anheuser-Busch CEO August Busch IV's mansion. Cape Girardeau Circuit Judge William Syler will hold a hearing June 29 to determine whether the amount is appropriate and how it should be distributed.
Syler also blocked the woman's parents from joining lawsuit, which was filed by the woman's husband on behalf of their 8-year-old son, but the parents can still argue for their right to some of the proceeds.
Busch's attorneys said their client wants the settlement to go to the woman's son.
Adrienne Martin was found dead in Busch's mansion on Dec. 16, 2010. Autopsy results showed that she died of an accidental overdose of oxycodone.
Martin's ex-husband, Dr. Kevin Martin, sued on behalf of their 8-year-old son in St. Louis County Court in March. The case was moved to Cape Girardeau, where Kevin Martin lives.
Maurice Graham, an attorney for Busch, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in April that the settlement was not an admission of negligence by Busch, but an attempt to help Adrienne Martin's son.
No criminal charges were filed against Busch in Adrienne Martin's death.
