NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A judge has ordered an unusual double jury for the trial of two Naperville women accused of running a multimillion-dollar mortgage scam. Pamela Williams, 58, and Patricia Johnson, 57, will be tried at the same time, before different juries, DuPage County Circuit Judge John Kinsella ruled.
Kinsella ruled Monday after Williams' lawyer sought to sever her case from Johnson's. The juries will simultaneously hear evidence about both defendants, then will separately hear evidence pertaining to just one defendant, the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reported.
Johnson and Williams are accused of using a title company to bilk property owners of $6 million in refinanced mortgage money.
