Coach’s Cheating Hurt Little Girl, Mom Says

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) – A coach’s win-at-all costs mentality and his use of an ineligible older player caused an 11-year-old girl to get hurt, her parents claim in Madison County Court.

Kristen McCarthy says her daughter, Alexis, was playing an indoor soccer game for her under-11 age bracket team against an under-12 team at the Glen-Ed Soccer Club on Nov. 26, 2007.
Christopher Tracy, the opposing team’s coach, knowingly used an ineligible 15-year-old player in order to win the game, the McCarthys claim. They say the older player caused Alexis to injure her arm.
Kristen McCarthy claims the soccer club and Tracy placed all of the players on the field in danger because of the size and strength of the older player and the soccer club was negligent in hiring Tracy as a coach without knowing his willingness to endanger the other players’ health by using an ineligible player in his attempt to win at all costs. The McCarthys are represented by Glenn Bradford.
