MANHATTAN — The Second Circuit upheld a ruling against 10 Filipino nurses and their counsel who brought false arrest and malicious prosecution claims against the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. The nurses were brought to Long Island under a contract that required them to work for at least three years or face a $25,000 penalty. Their attorney had advised them that they could resign from their positions without legal repercussions because they had worse housing conditions, pay, benefits and longer shifts than their contracts provided. The defendants were entitled to absolute immunity, the court ruled.
