EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (CN) - A convenience store manager was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for his part in a $1.5 million food stamp scheme.
Rami Mohammad, 33, of O'Fallon, Ill., managed a Quick Stop store in Washington Park, Ill. He was caught paying cash for food stamps at less than face value. Prosecutors said the scam cheated the federal government of $1.5 million.
Mohammad also was ordered to pay restitution.
