CARLINVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A southwestern Illinois judge has resigned, allegedly after making threats. Macoupin County Associate Judge Diane Brunton, 62, resigned effective Sunday.
Brunton became an associate judge in Sangamon County in 1988 and was assigned to Macoupin County in 1999.
Brunton was suspended on allegations of making threats, though the nature of the threats has not been revealed, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
No charges have been filed against Brunton.
Carlinville is 60 miles north of St. Louis.
