HUNTSVILLE, ALA. (CN) - Bill Heard, the country's biggest Chevrolet dealer, violated the WARN Act on Wednesday when it fired virtually all its 3,500 employees at 13 dealerships in six states, according to a class action in Federal Court. The layoffs were to take effect today (Friday).
The State of Georgia accused Heard of deceptive advertising in a $50 million claim in July 2007. Heard estimates its annual sales at $2.5 billion, according to the company Web site.
