ARLINGTON, VA. (CN) - Three police officers working Reagan National Airport for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority assaulted and battered a woman who complied with all their orders because they found a small bottle of contact lens cleaner in her carry-on luggage, Robin Kassner claims in Arlington County Court.
Kassner claims that after defendants Michael Urbina, Naima Reed and Sharnice Gartrell beat her without cause in a security area they falsely arrested her for "disorderly conduct," and when that false charge was dismissed, they conspired to charge her with "obstruction of justice."
Kassner claims "A customs has developed within the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and its police department to ignore civil rights violations by its officers. Moreover, Defendant MWAA supports these violations by pressing unwarranted or excessive criminal charges against persons whose rights have been violated."
She demands $5 million for assault and battery, constitutional violations, wanton negligence and conspiracy to obstruct justice. She is represented by Alan Cilman of Fairfax, Va.
