Water Boards Sue California over Smelt

SACRAMENTO (CN) - State Water Contractors sued the California Department of Fish and Game for its rules to limit water extraction from the San Joaquin Delta to protect the longfin smelt. The plaintiffs - 27 public agencies - say the rules will hurt the 25 million California the contractors serve, and hurt farming on 750,000 acres of the state's most fertile farmland.

Plaintiffs are represented by Best Best & Krieger.
