McKINNEY, Texas (CN) - A veterinarian says a doctor defamed him by picketing his store with a sign claiming the vet "moonlights for puppy mills."
Veterinarian Brian Benjamin sued Dr. John J. Pippin in McKinney County Court. Benjamin says Pippin is a member of an animal-rights group, and "has organized demonstrations" outside his clinic. Benjamin says Pippin doesn't like it that the vet "offers his professional services to a local pet store."
Benjamin says, "Pippin has personally appeared outside Dr. Benjamin's clinic carrying signs accusing Dr. Benjamin of being a murderer and a sign stating 'Dr. Benjamin moonlights for puppy mills.'"
Benjamin demands punitive damages. He is represented by Tom Carse of Dallas.
