(CN) - UPS said Wednesday that it will add about 95,000 seasonal workers to meet the anticipated demand from online shopping this holiday season.
The company said the majority of the full- and part-time jobs will be package handlers and drivers. Last year the company hired a comparable number of seasonal workers and about 37 percent of those holiday hires now have permanent jobs with the company.
Target has said it will hire more than 70,000 seasonal store workers, about the same as last year.
And Toys R Us expects to hire at least 10,900 workers for stores and distribution centers in its five biggest markets: New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago and Washington, D.C.
