ALBUQUERQUE (CN) - A New Mexico couple sued the U.S. Air Force, claiming a bombing run from Cannon Air Force Base started a fire that destroyed their home and business.
L.A. Davis and Sarah Davis and their business, D&D Equipment, sued Uncle Sam and the air force base, which is 7 miles outside of Clovis, where the Davises live.
They claim that B-1 bombers training over Cannon Air Force Base on Nov. 30, 2005, set off a fire on the practice range.
The wildfire spread past the Air Force base and consumed the Davises' "personal property, animals, vehicles, business inventory and equipment," according to the lawsuit.
They say their business losses came to more than $400,000, and damages to their real property exceeded $900,000.
The Melrose Range Fire burned more than 35,000 acres.
The Davises are represented in the Federal Court by Michael T. Garrett, of Clovis.
