VISTA, CALIF. (CN) - Two water districts that serve wealthy towns north of San Diego have sued the City of San Diego, claiming it has allowed the Lake Hodges Reservoir to be polluted, and is cheating them of water allotments to which they are entitled.
The Santa Fe Irrigation District serves Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch and Solana Beach. San Dieguito Irrigation District serves Leucadia, Encinitas and Cardiff.
They say they depend on Lake Hodges for their water, and San Diego is not protecting it from pollution, and also denies them the right to carry over unused water allotments from year to year.
Interstate 15 passes by Lake Hodges north of San Diego.
Plaintiffs are represented by James Gilpin with Best Best & Krieger.
