OPELIKA, Ala. — A federal court in Alabama ruled against an Auburn University student who was hit by a train while walking home from class, finding “stop, look, and listen” has been the rule governing pedestrian train collisions for 100 years, and the student’s conduct was the sole cause of her injuries. At the time of the accident, the crossing gate was down, the train’s horn was sounding, and the student was talking on her cellphone.
