WASHINGTON (CN) - Kicking off the October term, the Supreme Court issued a 94-page order Monday that denies certiorari to hundreds of cases and takes up nothing new.
The justices used recent precedent to resolve six new petitions for certiorari and also issued orders in 102 pending cases. After denying certiorari to hundreds more, the high court denied habeas corpus and mandamus to a few dozen others.
Eight denied rehearings and one disbarment cap off the order. There were no new opinions.
Last week the court granted certiorari to eight petitioners. The justices have three argument days scheduled this week and will conference on Friday. The court is closed next Monday for Columbus Day.
