SAN DIEGO (CN) - The adage "Criminals are stupid" was proved again by Thomas Ryan Knight, who was sentenced on Monday to 68 months in federal prison for using the Internet to try to hire a hit man. King, 20, who was serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., paid the "hit man" - who was an undercover cop - $1,500 after meeting him in a "secure" chat room, and asking him to kill a man named "Derek." King pleaded guilty in September to using interstate facilities to seek a murder for hire.
