Student did not defame another by reporting harassment

NEW ORLEANS — The Fifth Circuit upheld the summary judgment granted to a gay University of Texas at Arlington student, who was sued for defamation by the father of a student who harassed him by calling him “faggot” and encouraging him to commit suicide. The harassed student reported this to the dean and wrote about it on Facebook, but these accusations were not shown to be untrue. His harasser died by suicide months after the incident.
