LAS VEGAS (CN) - Actress Hunter Tylo filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a social worker whom she blamed for her 19-year-old son's 2007 drowning death. The "Bold and the Beautiful" actress says Shanna Downing of Horizon Family Therapy & Wellness advised her son, Michael Edward Tylo, to stop taking his seizure medication, which caused the young man to have a seizure and drown in a family pool.
Downing allegedly told the Tylo family that their son's seizures were "due to the stress he was experiencing due to his parents break-up," and "once the stress was eliminated... his seizures would disappear," according to the lawsuit filed in Clark County Court.
"That the care, advice and treatment rendered ... caused (Michael's) seizures to continue and lead to his untimely death," the lawsuit states.
The young man drowned in a family pool in Henderson on Oct. 18, 2007.
This is Tylo's second lawsuit against Downing and the Horizon Family Therapy & Wellness Center. In 2008, she tried unsuccessfully to amend a 2006 lawsuit to include a wrongful death claim.
Tylo is represented by Robert Eglet with Mainor Eglet.
