LOS ANGELES (CN) - Sly Stone on Tuesday was awarded $5 million by a jury that found a former manager and production company diverted royalties from him.
The funk singer, whose real name is Sylvester Stewart, sued his former manager Gerald Goldstein and attorney Glenn Stone in 2010 in Superior Court. Stone claimed they induced him to sign an employment agreement with Even Street Productions in the late 1980s, and used it to siphon away money that was due him.
The jury awarded Stone $2.5 million in damages from Even St., $2.45 million from Goldstein and $50,000 from Glenn Stone.
Sly Stone was represented by Nick Hornberger.
