Service Dogs

ATLANTA — The 11th Circuit reversed a ruling in favor of a yacht club on disability discrimination claims brought against it by a former member after the club refused her request for an exception to its pet policy so she could bring her service dog into the clubhouse. The woman, who has severe allergies, needs her bee-killing dog Piper to protect her from getting stung. The court ruled the club isn't a “private club” and isn’t exempt under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
