PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Saying Rhode Island law requires voters to sign off before any new type of gambling is legalized, Republican activist Daniel Harrop sued Wednesday to hold a referendum on sports betting.

Harrop is represented in the case by ontaine Bell attorney Brandon Bell, who chairs the Rhode Island Republican Party, and Joe Larisa. Rhode Island in 2018 became the only New England state to offer sports betting.
