WASHINGTON (CN) – A man who naked-tackled, then groped a visibly pregnant woman while she walked down the street in Washington pleaded guilty to felony charges Monday.
The attack occurred on May 5, 2017, just outside the U.S. Tax Court in Northwest D.C.
At about 3:30 p.m., according to a statement by prosecutors, a courthouse guard saw 24-year-old Michael Williams run “stark naked” up to a woman who was eight months pregnant.
When the unnamed woman tried to escape, Williams knocked her to the ground and groped her. Williams ran off as the courthouse guard approached, but a homicide detective saw the naked suspect fleeing up 3rd Street and made an arrest. Prosecutors note that neither the woman nor her baby sustained serious injuries from the attack.
Their assailant faces prison time and will be required to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty Monday to one charge of third-degree sexual abuse.
Prosecutors note that Williams has been in custody since his arrest four months ago. The Washington man is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 17 by Judge Zoe Bush at the D.C. Superior Court.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter Taylor investigated and prosecuted the case.
