WASHINGTON (CN) -The Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is removing turbochargers from a list of noise dissipative devices in an interstate motor carrier regulation. The Truck Manufacturers Association had pointed out to the agency, that, as written, the regulation may have allowed a commercial motor vehicle to pass federal inspection if the engine had a turbocharger but no muffler.
