WASHINGTON (CN) - In his latest move to undo President Bush's policies, President Barack Obama today ordered the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider the Bush-era rejection of applications from California and 13 other states that want to limit greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks. Obama also ordered the Transportation Department to draw up rules to implement a law that requires a 40 percent improvement in gas mileage for cars and light trucks by 2020.
The Bush administration refused to write regulations to enforce the 2007 law.
