NYC-TV Exec Accused of Dipping Into Till

MANHATTAN (CN) - A TV producer and former chief operating officer of NYC-TV was arrested Wednesday and charged with pocketing more than $60,000 in ad money that should have gone to the station.

State prosecutors say Trevor Scotland, 38, and his accomplice, Vincent R. Taylor, owner of VRT Multimedia, told advertisers to pay Taylor's media company for production work done by NYC-TV, which is partly funded by the city.

After VRT received payments, Taylor issued checks to Scotland directly or paid him through credit cards, according to the complaint in New York County Court.

Scotland pocketed 80% of the filched advertising money, and Taylor got the rest, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors say at least six companies were scammed, including Miller Brewing Co.

Scotland and Taylor are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
