NASA shared an image Friday of the earth straddling the limb of the moon, as seen from above Compton crater.
The center of the Earth in this view is just off the coast of Liberia, revealing the Sahara desert in the large tan area, right beside Saudia Arabia.
The Atlantic and Pacific coasts of South America are visible to the left.
A Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera, or LROC, that NASA launched in 2009 took the so-called "earthrise" image.
