Moviemaker Sues Text Messagers

LOS ANGLES (CN) - Brian Messner claims in Federal Court that Global Realty Development Corp. and Smart SMS violated copyright on his movies, "Seed of Faith," and "The Devil Exists," the latter about Charles Manson, to sell their text-message services.

Messner says Global is using his title, "The Devil Exists," and his storyline and teaser in its own marketing campaign it calls "Text Your Way To Stardom."

Messner says the defendants blew off his request to cease and desist. He is represented by Craig Smith of Woodland Hills.
