CAMDEN, N.J. (CN) – Medpro, which sells medical lasers over the Internet, claims its chief competitor, Syneron, an Israeli company, sent “the largest email ‘bomb’ in the history of the Internet,” millions of messages that falsely claimed to be from Medpro, annoying customers and potential customers, forcing Medpro to shut down its Web site for weeks, and costing it more than $250,000.
Medpro claims it is heavily dependent on the Internet for its business, and that Syneron knew it. Medpro gets used medical lasers from doctors and resells them; Syneron sells new lasers.
Medpro demands punitive damages for conspiracy, computer fraud, tortious interference, unfair competition, Lanham Act violations, and other charges. It is represented by Jerald Cureton of Mt. Laurel, N.J.
