Man Pleads Guilty to Setting House on Fire

(CN) - A Charleston, W.V., man pleaded guilty on Monday to setting fire to a woman's home because she had black and biracial guests. According to the Justice Department, Daryl Lee Fierce, 69, set fire to the outside wall of the woman's bedroom in July 2007, while she slept.

Fierce admitted that he set the fire because the white woman who lived there entertained guests of another race.

He further admitted that he had previously used racial epithets against the woman's guests, some of whom were children.

Fierce is scheduled to be sentenced in July for the civil rights violation and faces up to 10 years in prison. The case was prosecuted by James Walsh.
