Man Claims He Was Defamed on Craigslist

FORT LAUDERDALE (CN) – A man demands punitive damages from Northeast Financial Solutions, claiming that after he ignored dunning phone calls for a $15,000 debt that he didn’t owe, someone put his name on Craigslist, soliciting homosexual sex, and he had to be hospitalized for stress after getting 300 phone calls about it in two days.

The plaintiff also claims the defendants posted a picture of a drunk man in the bogus “Men Seeking Men” ad, “intending the recipients of the personal advertisement to believe that it was a picture of the plaintiff.”
He demands damages for libel, emotional distress, and violations of the Fair Debt Collection Act. He is represented in Broward County Court by Jim Polenberg with Polenberg Cooper.
