Life sentence

SAN FRANCISCO — The Ninth Circuit upheld a life sentence imposed on Riley Briones Jr. who was convicted as a juvenile after he was a getaway driver during a deadly robbery in 1994. The court noted Briones conceded that current law “imposes no categorical ban” on life without parole for juveniles in general or juvenile homicide offenders who didn’t “pull the trigger.”
