Kiddie Porn Shot at Children’s Aid Society Triggers Suit

BRONX, N.Y. (CN) – The former court officer and child care assistant who exploited New York City welfare children for child porn face a civil suit from an angry father.

Thursday’s complaint comes four years after the shocking arrest of Alberto Yard, a 19-year veteran court officer whose online kiddie-porn habit led investigators to a trove of thousands of homemade movies and images.

Police soon discovered that Yard obtained part of his collection from Colette Robertson. While working as a home health aide for the Children’s Aid Society, Robertson took hundreds of compromising photos of the wards.

After the pair pleaded guilty, a federal judge sentenced Robertson to 25 years in prison. Yard received a 27-year sentence last year.

Suing anonymously in Bronx County Supreme Court, J.R. says Yard and Robertson’s  victims include his two children whom he entrusted with the Children’s Aid Society and Bronxworks Inc.

“On or about 2008 through November 2013, infant plaintiffs were residents of Willow Avenue Family Residence located at 190 Willow Ave., Bronx, N.Y., 10454,” according to the complaint.

J.R. says Robertson sexually assaulted and exploited his children and other infant residents of the Children’s Aid Society between 2012 and 2013.

The Bronx man seeks damages for battery and negligence. He is represented by Jonathan Ginsberg with Mangan Ginsberg in Manhattan.

An article by the New York Daily News about Yard’s sentencing reported that the city and the Children’s Aid Society paid $65,000 to four victims, and Yard kicked in $21,000 to settle a federal lawsuit stemming from the sexual exploitation.

Assigned to Brooklyn Civil Court before his arrest, Yard reportedly became a gun-control activist after his 17-year-old daughter Nyasisa was shot to death in a nightclub in 2009.
