SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - A Humboldt County juvenile corrections officer has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, the Justice Department said.
Eureka resident Keith Monroe Wallace, 53, was employed by the Humboldt County Juvenile Probation Office as a supervising juvenile corrections officer when he was arrested earlier this year.
As part of his plea deal, Wallace admitted to knowingly possessing over 600 visual depictions of prepubescent minors engaging in sexual conduct. The images included depictions of sadism and masochism or other types of violence, the Justice Department said.
In addition to the five-year prison sentence handed down on Friday, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer also ordered 10 years of probation and required Wallace to register as a sex offender. The judge will determine restitution at a later date.
Wallace began serving his prison term immediately, the Justice Department said.
