Juries may reject bad arguments

EL PASO, Texas — An appeals court in Texas upheld the life sentence of a murderer who killed an escort at his home. He says the jury erred in rejecting his argument that the killing was the result of sudden passion; he says he “freaked out” because the victim raised her prices and threatened to call the police. The jury did not buy it, which was no legal error.
