NEW YORK (CN) - A judge on Long Island wiped out a $525,000 mortgage for a Long Island couple just in time for Thanksgiving. In clearing Greg Horoski's debt, Suffolk Judge Jeffrey Spinner lashed out at OneWest for what he called "harsh, repugnant, shocking and repulsive" acts, the New York Post reported.
The decision cleared up to $291,00 in principal and $235,000 in interest and penalties, according to the paper.
The Horoskis told the Post they begged bankers let them to restructure their loan, but the bank wouldn't budge.
The bank said in a statement that it intends to appeal.
