JetBlue Flight Attendant|Slater Pleads Guilty

(CN) - The JetBlue flight attendant who made headlines by telling off a passenger and exiting the plane on an emergency chute pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of criminal mischief. By pleading guilty, Steven Slater will avoid jail time.

Slater made national headlines in August when he got on the plane's intercom and announced, "To the passenger who called me a mother fucker, fuck you!"

He reportedly added, "I've been in the business 28 years. That's it. I'm done." He grabbed two beers, deployed the plane's evacuation slide and slid off the plane at the John F. Kennedy International Airport.

He was arrested Aug. 10 and charged with two counts of criminal mischief and one count of criminal trespass.

Queens County Supreme Court Judge Marcia Hirsch ordered Slater to enter a year-long mental health program and receive substance and alcohol abuse counseling.

He was also placed on probation and fined $10,000.
