Gulf Cartel Boss Pleads to Cocaine Charges

MANHATTAN (CN) – A leader of Mexico’s Gulf cartel pleaded guilty to federal cocaine charges Tuesday. Gilberto Salinas Doria admitted he brought in more than 500 grams of the drug – considerably less than the 200 tons prosecutors say he actually imported. U.S. agents say they seized 4.4 tons of it in the New York area between 1997 and 1999.
