Grover Named to Sixth District Court of Appeal

(CN) - Judge Adrienne Grover will join the 6th District Court of Appeal in California as an associate justice, California Gov. Jerry Brown said.

If confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments, 50-year-old Grover will fill a vacancy created by retirement of Associate Justice Wendy Clark Duffy.

The commission consists of Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Attorney General Kamala D. Harris and Senior Presiding Justice Conrad Lee Rushing.

A Democrat from Carmel, Grover received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her juris doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law.

She served as an associate attorney at Long and Levit from 1990 to 1992.

From 1992 to 1995, Grover worked as an assistant county counsel and then deputy counsel for Calaveras County.

She became deputy county counsel for Monterey County in 1995, and then county counsel in 1999. For the last 10 years, Grover has served as a judge for the Monterey County Superior Court.

The new position comes with an annual salary of $204,599.
