LOS ANGELES (CN) – Two production companies owe him $10 million for producing the first of the “Friday the 13th” horror films, Sean Cunningham claims in Superior Court. Cunningham says he produced the first film in the series for a 25 percent cut of the take from all remakes and sequels.
Cunningham says he realized that Georgetown Productions and Horror Inc. owed him after Horror sued him in a separate action over money he got from producing the remake of another slasher flick, “The Last House on the Left.”
Cunningham cites Horror’s recent $800,000 paycheck, related to the newest “Friday” film, due out in 2009, as just one example of Horror’s failure to honor his contract.
Cunningham said he also produced two of the twelve “Friday the 13th” sequels.
Cunningham is represented by Bruce Isaacs and David Boren of Wyman and Isaacs.
