MANHATTAN (CN) – The former president of the Iranian-owned Alavi Foundation was sentenced on Thursday to 3 months in prison and fined $3,000 for two felony counts of obstruction of justice. Farshid Jahedi pleaded guilty in December to destroying documents subpoenaed by a grand jury that was investigating allegations of tax evasion and Alavi’s relationship with Bank Melli Iran, and the ownership of the office building at 650 Fifth Ave.
