WASHINGTON (CN) - States and tribes now may apply for grants meant to encourage operators of privately-held farm, ranch and forest land to allow public access for hunting and fishing.
Grants may be used to improve fish and wildlife habitat on the land.
The grants are part of the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program authorized by the Food, Conservation and Energy Act. The program is run by the Farm Service Agency and the Commodity Credit Corporation.
