WASHINGTON (CN) - The Food and Drug Administration seeks public comment on requiring animal antimicrobial drug sponsors to submit additional data meant to help the FDA track resistance to the drugs.
The FDA requests public comments on how sponsors may both practically and accurately provide sales and distribution information for each species separately; how it is best to compile and present information by microbial class in FDA's Annual Summary Report so confidential business information may be protected; and alternative methods for obtaining additional data and information about the extent of antimicrobial drug use in food-producing animals.
The FDA will consider comments received by Sept. 25.
