MANHATTAN (CN) - A former New York City Police officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to armed bank robbery. Christian Torres conspired with his then-girlfriend, a teller, to rob $16,305 from her drawer in April 2007, and he returned in November 2007 and stole $102,000 from the vault.
Torres, 23, pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bank fraud, larceny and bank robbery. He faces up to 65 years in prison if the maximum sentences are assessed consecutively. He will be sentenced on Nov. 9.
His ex, Christina Dasrath, with whom he shared some of the money, pleaded guilty to bank fraud, larceny and false statements a year ago. She was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Torres showed a gun and threatened bank employees when he robbed the vault, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.
