(CN) - The Brussels-based European Commission today fined Intel 1.1 billion Euros ($1.5 billion), saying the chip-maker used illegal tactics to squeeze out rival AMD.
The European Union said Intel gave rebates to Acer, Dell, Lenovo, HP and NEC for buying computer processing units from Intel, and paid them to stop or delay launching computers based on AMD chips.
